Went to a voke school for high school and took auto tech, grew up working on cars with dad and grandpa, got gas in my eyes one day and went to the nurses office, she made me call my dad, and before he picked up she asked me what he would say, I told her he'd tell me to suck it up and go back to class, he picked up and she told him what happened, he told me to quit bitching and get back to work, I laughed and the nurse was horrified, I went back to class and finished timing an engine before the school day ended😂

i consciously took my hair down after my race as i was approaching my teammate to cheer him on. we see eachother several times a week and our families go camping together. both of us are very reserved people, so we don't talk that much/the only time we do talk is before/after our races. this thing called me out, i feel like i've gotta start trying to talk with him before he loses interest... wish me luck.

A woman hinting is like the beams going up at a rail passage. The rain might have passed, the beams are going up, but you shouldn't go until the light flash white. Otherwise you risk having the beams go down on you while you're trying to pass and now you're in a really awkward situation.

My mom isn’t a paramedic but she works in the lab (tests urine, labels specimens, etc.) but she came home one day and told me that on her way into work she seen a little boy stray away from his mother (I believe the mom was on a call and he was misbehaving after the woman had told him to stay by her) and my mom straight up watched this kid who couldn’t have been older than 10 run into the street, almost immediately getting hit by a bus (a small shuttle bus used for driving handicapped patients to the entrances so they don’t have to walk) The bus didn’t stop and the boy was pinned under it, getting dragged a few feet. My mom aswell as the kid’s mom were the first to help him. My mom actually ran infront of the bus to get him to stop it and she pulled the boy out, picked him up in her arms and actually ran into the hospital with his mother by her side. The kid ended up getting away with a broken arm and some road burns. Needless to say, my mom’s freaking awesome and she’s my hero. And kids, never ignore your parents when they tell you to stay close in parking lots and roads. It might just save your life.

about how we know black holes will die at some point: there's these things called virtual particles, which are matter-anti matter pairs of particles that randomly and spontaneously come into and go out of existence. Normally, these paired particles have equal and opposite energies so the total energy of the universe is conserved... and they annihilate each other quick enough that we don't observe them, hence the name virtual. Near the event horizon of a black hole, it's possible for the pair to be ripped apart by extreme gravitational forces, in which case the particle that escapes take away some miniscule but non zero energy from the black hole. This causes them to lose energy, hence mass (energy and mass are equivalent) very slowly and quite literally, evaporate. This is called hawking radiation, because stephen hawking was the first to come up with the idea. Funny enough, we've never observed Hawking radiation in practice (its weak and hard to detect) but we're confident it exists because analogs of hawking radiation have been observed in lab made "blackholes" (not real blackholes) that attempt to replicate the gravitational conditions around real ones

If you notice that someone is following you, you don’t have to wait for them to get close to raise an alarm. A shouted syllable from your diaphragm can be enough to put someone off, and you will have drawn attention to your situation.

Some swimming advice- you CANNOT out swim a riptide- alert anyone nearby that you are in distress before you get dragged too far out to be helped. Don’t swim in unmapped swimming holes. Like say, water filled quarries. It doesn’t matter if you are an excellent swimmer, or that the people with you are as well. You don’t know what’s under the water, and as soon as you are under water you are effectively invisible. Just don’t, please. It’s way too easy to get caught on something unseen under water, or hit a hidden rock… say you hit your head. RIP.

I have some more I can't remember, but one I do know is how to make a prison shank. They're pretty easy to make. First you get a piece of paper and put it into your desired shape. A cute little cross, a candy cane, or as the first sentence says, a shank. Put it in soapy water. REALLY soapy. Get the paper itself soapy. Remove the paper from the water and lay it out. It works best in the sun. The paper is rock hard. Now you have a cute little cross chain to go on a necklace, a candy cane ornament, or as the first sentence suggests, a shank. DISCLAIMER: YOU CAN ONLY STAB WITH THESE SHANKS. THEY ARE NOT EFFICIENT WITH CUTTING. DO NOT USE THESE AS KITCHEN KNIVES. IT WILL NOT ALWAYS WORK, AS I HAVE TRIED IT MYSELF WITH A LARGE WAD OF PAPER AND I JUST GOT A SOGGY MESS TOOK DAYS TO DRY. I STILL HAVE IT AS AN ART PIECE. DO NOT TRY THIS AT SCHOOL, JUST AT HOME.

Did you know that the Backrooms is based off a true event? It all happened in 1905, where a science company named "B-Sync" started kidnapping people and putting them in isolated rooms, and out of all people, only one survived. He told the scientists that he saw weird creatures, and the government was afraid about what they may have discovered, and they decided to create a Non-Disclosure Agreement, to tell no one about this, and closed down the experiment. The area where they did the experiment was never seen again.

Ok, so I had a history teacher in highschool who had creative ways of disciplining his students. He wasn't allowed to hit us, so instead he used his house keys to torture us. You see, if we misbehaved, he came next to us and put his keys with the pointy side behind our ears, then he started to apply pressure and slide down the ear slowly but surely. It was quite painful, and if the teacher didn't like you, he would make sure you'd bleed. So yeah, if you wonder why your keys might look like dongs instead of pointy like they used to, you know why.

Well, if you all want some more safe rules that are common knowledge about rules that exist because of people, then I will say three of them that involve game shows. The first story involves a man by the name of (Paul) Michael Larson, who was the person that won the most money on the first version of Press Your Luck way back in 1984. He did some computer work, and some other jobs, but one thing that he did was rig up a system of lights that had mimicked the light pattern in the show. This led to him not only getting him $USD 110,237 (or $USD 333,224.49 in 2024 cash value), but it also mandated that the show run more randomized light patterns, which also held true for its successor versions, namely, Whammy!, in 2002 to 2003, and the current version of Press Your Luck, which has existed since 2019, and all of the foreign versions of the show as well. However, in all irony, the winnings weren't the biggest scandal that had plagued Michael Larson, as shady investment deals, and the fraud that had been brought about, as a result of investing his winnings into said deals, were the thing that he was truly known for in his life. The second story is perhaps the most significant of the three stories, and possibly one of, if not THE, greatest game show contestant of all time, not just in the USA, but worldwide as well, and his name is Ken Jennings. He not only holds the most money ever won on any version of Jeopardy, which was a total of $USD 4,522,700 (or $USD 7,519,533.44 in 2024 cash value), but his resume is a very impressive one, and not just for Jeopardy Here is his list of accomplishments. - Ken Jennings held the longest winning streak of any game in game show history (74 consecutive wins, and 75 appearances during said winning streak). - Ken Jennings still holds the largest amount of money that was won during said winning streak, which was $USD 2,520,700, or $USD 4,190,967.33 in 2024 cash value. - Ken Jennings won additional prizes on other future Jeopardy! episodes, including $ USD 500,000, or $ USD 757,369.47 in 2024 cash value, for a second place win on the special Jeopardy!: Ultimate Tournament of Champions in 2007, winning $USD 3000,000, or $ USD 418,872.23 in 2024 cash value, in a special Jeopardy! episode that is called the Jeopardy!: IBM Challenge (which is also the first time that a computer AI was ever a contestant on a game show, namely, Watson), winning $ USD 100,000, or $USD 132,666.35 in 2024 cash value, on the special Jeopardy episode that was called Jeopardy!: Battle of the Decades in 2014, winning another $USD 100,000, or $USD 122,847.56 in 2024 cash value, that he won, after his team split the prize three ways, on the special Jeopardy! episode that was called Jeopardy!: All-Star Games in 2019, and an additional $USD 1,000,000, plus an additional $USD 250,000, or $USD 1,516,880.04 in 2024 cash value, for his compensatory paid appearance on his last Jeopardy! episode that was called the Jeopardy!: Greatest of All Time Tournament. - Ken Jennings also appeared on more game shows than any other contestant, which was seven game shows, namely, Jeopardy!, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?, Grand Slam, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, 1 vs. 100, and 500 Questions. - Ken Jennings won $USD 100,000, or $ USD 151,473.89 in 2024 cash value, on the American version of Grand Slam in 2007. - Ken Jennings won $USD 500,000 or $USD 729,365.13 in 2024 cash value, on Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader in 2008. However, he decided to not answer the final question, which would have netted him the second $USD 1,000,000, or $USD 1,458,730.25 in 2024 cash value, had he decided to go forward, as he had the correct answer to the question. - Ken Jennings won $USD 100,000, or $USD 132,666.35 in 2024 cash value, on a second appearance on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, in 2014. He walked away, though he could have won $USD 250,000, or $USD 331,665.86, if he had answered the next question, which was a correct answer. - Ken Jennings also won on other shows, such as Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, 1 vs. 100, Doug Loves Movies, @midnight, LearnedLeague, and FleetWit. - Ken Jennings once won the rookie division of the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament in 2006. - Ken Jennings caused the staff member who was in charge of the buzzer timer on Jeopardy! to be changed to allow more rehearsal time for players to get comfortable with the buzzers, in order to even the playing field. - Ken Jennings, even more so than other notable Jeopardy! winners, Brad Rutter, and James Holzhauer, to change the rules once again concerning the amount of days that a guest could come back to the game. Prior to 2003, guests could only play for 5 consecutive days. However, after Ken Jennings, Brad Rutter, and James Holzhauer played their long winning streaks on the game, the rules were changed once again in 2021, which now capped the total amount of wins to no more than 30 consecutive appearances on the show. - Ken Jennings hosted a variety of shows, including an attempted pilot for a revival of The $100,000 Pyramid, as well as other shows, including Stump the Master, The Best Ever Trivia Show, Master Minds, and The Chase. - Ken Jennings became a consultant on Jeopardy! from 2020 to 2022. - Ken Jennings became a co-host, as well as guest host, on Jeopardy! from 2020 to 2023. - Ken Jennings was the first host of Jeopardy! after Alex Trebek's death in 2020. - Ken Jennings became the permanent solo host of Jeopardy! in 2023. Ken Jennings also has other accomplishments, as well as a lot of controversy, but this is but a fraction of his accomplishments. Anyway, it is legendary when a person literally goes from being a contestant on a game show to literally hosting the show themselves. The third, and last, game changing contestant on a game show is technically Terry Kniess, though a man by the name of Ted Slauson, a super fan on The Price is Right, who just so happens to be a math expert, and who also studied patterns on the show. The thing that they accomplished is that they got an exact bid on a Showcase, which is the only time that an exact bid has happened on the show. However, on June 7, 2024, another contestant, Patrice Masse, who was from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, got within $USD 1 of the prize. Many people still accuse Slauson, Kniess, and another former show employee of cheating and collusion, but the claims are invalid, though the current show host, Drew Carey, never has talked about the issue since the documentary about the incident was released. Unfortunately, Ted Slauson has not been on the show since in the audience, and since Terry Kniess has already won on the show, he is not eligible to be on the show again, as The Price is Right always has had a rule against returning guests, even in the Bill Cullen era of the program. The change that had happened is that the show now randomizes the features of the products that are on the show, thus preventing, or, at the very least, greatly reducing, the exact bids on the items that are on the show.

I loaned a couple hundred to my sister so she could install an air conditioner unit into her then new apartment. She paid me back in less than a month.

I'm so glad to see a rat mentioned. Snopes says the hamster thing is a myth. However - I worked in a radiology department many years ago. One of the techs motioned me over and put her finger on her lips - shhhhh. She handed me an x-ray req form and pointed to the bottom. Curious I read what the doctor had written as reason for request - "Patient states quote: "Mouse ran across floor, up trousers and into rectum". It was all I could do not to laugh out loud. Sure enough the x-ray showed a tiny dead mouse. We never did find out exactly how he got it up there.

0:26 cranks up the subwoofers to try and destroy a body. Police knock... "Err we have a noise complaint.... wait what's that I see on the floor? Put your hands behind your back!"
